Shaowen Zhang is a PhD candidate in the Film and Visual Studies Program. She is a film and media historian of modern and contemporary China working on a dissertation about the chromatic engineers of the People’s Republic. She has taught for a number of classes on cinema, art, visual culture, and literature.
