The Bok Center recently brought together Sarah Craycraft from Folklore and Mythology and Lauren Kaminsky from History and Literature to develop practical resources for implementing oral assessments. Drawing on historical research into the traditional emphasis in higher education on oral and rhetorical skills, the project addresses faculty interest in reviving oral assessment as AI transforms academic writing. The collaboration will produce comprehensive guidance on assessment structures, implementation strategies, and accessibility considerations for various forms of oral assessment.
