History of College Teaching Reading Group (unpublished)

What can we learn by looking back over the long history of teaching in American universities? In our Fall 2024 faculty reading group we'll be tackling Jonathan Zimmerman's splendid history of higher education pedagogy, The Amateur Hour: A History of College Teaching in America (Johns Hopkins, 2020). 

Join a biweekly discussion group with other faculty to explore how the past century of faculty and administrative debates about the proper balance of research and teaching, teacher training, course evaluations, and academic specialization can help us think about the challenges facing higher ed now. Lunch will be provided.
