Perspectives on Gender and Sexuality in the Classroom: A Lunchtime Discussion for TFs and Undergraduates

Date:

Friday, November 2, 2018, 11:00am to 12:30pm

Location:

Bok Center Learning Lab, 50 Church Street Suite 308

How do gender and sexuality show up or remain invisible to both TFs and undergraduates in the classroom, and how can this impact teaching and learning? In this lunchtime conversation between TFs and undergraduates from the Undergraduate Council, we hope to refine our awareness of how different identities enter the classroom, deepen our vocabularies for analyzing how power and privilege can correspond to different identities, and strategize ways to foster equity through our pedagogy. This discussion will allow participants to share and discuss their own classroom experiences with these issues, and will help the Bok Center plan spring programming for TFs.

This event is open to all TFs, please register here.  Undergraduate participants are by invitation only at this time.

We invite attendees to submit specific challenging situations that they have experienced and would like to workshop in the session (although submitting a situation is not a requirement for participation). Submissions will be anonymous.
