Jordan R Brown

Jordan R. Brown (she/her) is a Harvard University doctoral candidate in ethnomusicology with a secondary field in African and African American Studies exploring work on alternative hip-hop and alternative R&B music. As a scholar-performer, she examines African American popular music and genre through Black political, feminist, and queer frameworks, intertwining critical inquiry with live musicianship. Her work is supported by the American Musicological Society’s Howard Mayer Brown Fellowship.
