Undergraduate Pedagogy Fellow Wins Campus Award

We're thrilled to congratulate Emmalee Manigat, one of our Undergraduate Pedagogy Fellows (UPFs), for being named the Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year Award winner across the entire Harvard campus!

Emma has been a dedicated member of the UPF team since the fall of 2023. Her passion for inclusive learning environments is evident in the workshops and materials she develops for Harvard instructors and teaching fellows (TFs). These workshops delve into student identities and explore practical strategies for fostering a welcoming classroom for all students.

Emma is an excellent communicator. She bridges cultural gaps by clarifying U.S. educational terms like charter and magnet schools and provides real-world examples to illustrate how educational experiences can differ for students before coming to Harvard (e.g., college prep options, class offerings, demographics).

Emma also draws from her unique perspective as a dual-degree student at Harvard College and Berklee College of Music. By sharing her insights, she fosters a deeper understanding of the challenges that dual-degree students face and the strengths that they bring to the classroom.

Beyond workshops, Emma co-developed valuable pre- and post-workshop surveys. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures the UPF program effectively meets instructors' needs and delivers the best possible learning experience.
