Gender, Sexuality, and Identity in the Classroom: A Lunchtime Discussion

Date:

Thursday, September 27, 2018, 12:00pm to 2:00pm

Location:

Science Center 418d

How do gender and sexuality show up or remain invisible in the classroom, and how can this impact teaching and learning? In this lunchtime discussion, we hope to refine our awareness of how different identities enter the classroom, deepen our vocabularies for analyzing how power and privilege can correspond to different identities, and strategize ways to foster equity through our pedagogy. This lunch discussion will allow participants to share and discuss their own classroom experiences with these issues, and will help the Bok Center plan future programming for TFs.

We invite attendees to submit specific challenging situations that they have experienced and would like to workshop in the session (although submitting a situation is not a requirement for participation).
