Paddy
Panayotis (Paddy) League holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from Harvard, where he wrote a dissertation about the musical dimensions of Ottoman intercommunality among the descendants of Anatolian Greek refugees. He also studies the confluence of music, dance, and oral poetry in the Greek Aegean, Northeastern Brazil, Ireland, and their diasporas, and is an active performer of traditional music on various fiddles, accordion, lutes, and the Greek goatskin bagpipe. Paddy is currently serving as the James A. Notopoulos Fellow at the Milman Parry Collection of Oral Literature, cataloguing and publishing rare field recordings of Greek music and oral poetry from the early 1950s.
