Mary Elston is a PhD candidate in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. She spent the last academic year in Egypt doing research for her dissertation, which focuses on Islamic education in contemporary Cairo. Her main pedagogical interest is inclusivity in the classroom. She has a dog named Cooper and loves to walk with him at Plum Island and the Middlesex Fells Reservation.
