Madeleine Woods is Assistant Director, AI Initiatives at Harvard's Derek Bok Center Learning Lab, where she designs tools and experiments that help faculty and students engage with AI as both a medium and method for learning. With a background in folklore and linguistics (Harvard BA, Cambridge MA), she approaches AI not as a shortcut but as a force reshaping how we design, test, and assess student thinking.

Her work focuses on making assignments more *AI-resilient* or *AI-enhanced*—reimagining blue book exams, designing paper-based and oral assessments, while also prototyping future assignment types. She leads projects exploring how AI can challenge and extend the ways we read, write, speak, and build knowledge across disciplines.

Madeleine is also a Residential Tutor in Adams House.
