Mackinley “Mack” FitzPatrick is a Ph.D. candidate in Archaeology in Harvard’s Department of Anthropology, specializing in Inka khipus—ancient Andean knotted-cord recording devices. His research integrates computational archaeology and fiber technology analysis to reconstruct khipu production, with particular emphasis on cultural practices, imperial administration, and labor at Laguna de los Cóndores in Peru. A 2025 Harvard Horizons Scholar, Mack actively engages in public outreach, digital preservation initiatives, and collaborative projects including the Open Khipu Repository and the Khipu Field Guide.
