As a Postdoctoral Fellow in Artificial Intelligence, Dongpeng works with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduates to explore, evaluate, and implement AI technologies in educational settings. She designs, leads, and evaluates interactive workshops and activities that introduce educators to effective and ethical ways of partnering with AI in teaching and learning, while also creating publicly accessible tutorials and classroom resources for Harvard’s TF and TA training.

Her research takes a mixed-method approach to understanding how students and educators engage with AI in their studies and professional practice. Her dissertation adopts an interdisciplinary framework that integrates the sociology of professions with functionalist models under critical realism. This multi-layered perspective examines both task-oriented factors, such as usefulness, ease of use, and organizational support, and profession-oriented factors, including value alignment, professional identity, and ethical concerns. The resulting conceptual model provides a more comprehensive account of educators’ acceptance or resistance to AI than single-paradigm approaches allow.

Before joining the Bok Center, Dongpeng earned her Ph.D. in Emerging Media Studies from Boston University.
