SUMMARY:Faculty Lunch: Holding Seated Final Exams
DESCRIPTION:
Are you switching to a seated final exam this spring or thinking about doing so in the fall? Are you unsure about the pedagogical value of seated final exams, but concerned about potential use of AI for take-home assessments? Join Professor Andrew Gordon, Lee and Juliet Folger Fund Professor of History, and faculty colleagues over lunch to discuss how to give seated final exams that are fair and effective. Professor Gordon will share what he has learned over many years of giving seated final exams, discuss logistical challenges, and talk about grading practices. Faculty will be invited to share their own challenges and insights, with the goal of making the discussion immediately useful for drafting Spring 2026 final exams and/or planning fall courses.

Open to all FAS faculty. Lunch will be provided.
