Make an Impact as a Pedagogy Fellow

January 21, 2021
A pedagogy fellow stands in front of a group of her peers answering a question.

We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 cohort of Pedagogy Fellows. Pedagogy Fellows enhance training and support for teaching fellows within their departments and across the FAS. They lead pedagogy seminars and workshops, consult with TFs, and develop resources on teaching and professional development for their peers.

Through their work and the Bok Center’s training, Pedagogy Fellows grow in their own careers as teachers and scholars. Each year, fellows report on how much they learn and how much they appreciate the opportunity to enhance teaching and support for TFs. Fellows this year have been instrumental in supporting both new and experienced TFs as they pivoted to teaching remotely, by curating resources, sharing ideas and strategies, and creating spaces for TFs to come together, practice, and learn from one another. Here are some highlights from this year’s cohort so far:

  • Suzanne Paszkowski, Bok Pedagogy Fellow and PhD student in the Classics, is facilitating a reading group for GSAS PhD students across disciplines on bell hooks’ Teaching to Transgress;

  • Matt Holmes, Pedagogy Fellow in Molecular and Cellular Biology, is laying the groundwork for restructured pedagogy training for TFs in his department;

  • Alex Cowan, Pedagogy Fellow in Music, has been working to transform the well-established music pedagogy course, Music 250HFA/B: Colloquium on Teaching Pedagogy, for a remote format;

  • Buse Aktaş, Bok Pedagogy Fellow and PhD student in SEAS, is working with our equity and inclusion team as a mentor to the Undergraduate Pedagogy Fellows.
