Zachary Nowak, a College Fellow in History (and former Pedagogy Fellow at the Bok Center) has been featured in the Chronicle of Higher Education’s teaching newsletter.

How One Instructor Stopped Himself From Lecturing Too Much” (17 January 2019) describes Nowak’s efforts to design his course on American environmental history (HIST 1054) in a highly interactive, participatory fashion, in which “lecture” periods would be filled with active learning exercises, polling, and class discussion. Nowak visited the Bok Center several times in the course of developing his class, working through his objectives and syllabus design with Director of Pedagogy & Practice Adam Beaver and his writing assignments with Assistant Director for Writing Pedagogy Jonah Johnson.
