Championing Equity and Inclusion at the HILT Conference

Bok Center staff played an active role in last Friday’s annual Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching (HILT) conference on Championing Equitable Instruction and Inclusive Classrooms, a topic at the core of our work with instructors at all stages. In addition to our many staff who attended the conference as participants, two Bok staff members led breakout sessions. Pamela Pollock, Director of Professional Development, co-facilitated a breakout session on supporting students during challenging times, and Noelle Lopez, Assistant Director, Equity and Inclusion, co-facilitated a panel on student perspectives on equitable and responsive classrooms with Harvard undergraduate and graduate students, including two Bok Center student fellows, Buse Aktas and Ashley Akaeze.

Read more about the conversations on equitable instruction and inclusive classrooms, as well as Pamela and Noelle’s sessions, in Harvard Magazine’s feature on the conference, "I Want to Hear About You." You can also learn more about Bok Center programming on equity and inclusion or consult our inclusive teaching resources.
