Our science education journal club, which meets biweekly during the academic year, explores current research on effective teaching and learning in STEM fields. The journal club meetings highlight relevant background information and key insights from selected articles published in science education journals. Faculty and graduate students are welcome to attend. We ask that you RSVP in advance.
Fall 2021 Reading Group
What can we learn by looking back over the long history of teaching in American universities? In our Fall 2021 faculty reading group we'll be tackling Jonathan Zimmerman's splendid new history of higher education pedagogy, The Amateur Hour: A History of College Teaching in America (Johns Hopkins, 2020).
Join a biweekly discussion group with other faculty to explore how the past century of faculty and administrative debates about the proper balance of research and teaching, teacher training, course evaluations, and academic specialization can help us think about the challenges facing higher ed now.
