Christina Ciocca EllerChristina Ciocca Eller, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Social Studies

With the rise of accountability in higher education, colleges and universities are sharing more data than ever before concerning their "performance"—especially in regards to their degree completion rates. But are the metrics that colleges and universities use to demonstrate their performance the "right" metrics? Do they provide the transparency that accountability systems explicitly wish to create? At this faculty lunch, Professor Ciocca Eller will present data to suggest initial responses to these questions and then lead a discussion on accountability and transparency in the higher education context. The session particularly will focus on how accountability shows up in our classrooms, and how we can conceptualize our own role in contributing to what the public sees as measures of organizational success.
