How can you help your students learn? What should you learn about teaching as a PhD student? In this seminar, we will read David Gooblar’s *The Missing Course: Everything they Never Taught You about College Teaching*, an introduction to the fundamentals of effective teaching and learning. Topics we’ll cover include student motivation, classroom practice, course design, and feedback and assessment. Gooblar offers examples and concrete strategies, based on studies of how students learn, that instructors in any discipline can add to their toolkit to engage and support their students. We will use the text as a springboard for discussion, whether you are a new TF looking for activities to use in class or an experienced TF interested in designing a course and expanding your repertoire, you will emerge with practical strategies to help improve student learning. This seminar is designed for PhD students from all disciplines, with any level of teaching experience.

*This is the first session of a 6-session seminar. Registration required.*
