We are begining to assign students projects that demand increasingly complex vocabulary, technical expertise, and creative or aesthetic skills. To ensure that these projects are pedagogically effective, we need to attend ever more carefully to the ways we design, support and evaluate such projects. In this session, we will discuss best practices for designing both formative and summative creative assignments and for giving students feedback on these assignments. We will present examples of creative projects already used in courses at Harvard and work together to figure out how to turn assignments from our own classrooms into creative projects. Participants are encouraged to come with an assignment in mind for workshopping.
